Origami Labs attended the 2-day Goldman Sachs TechNet Conference Asia Pacific 2019 which took place in the Grand Hyatt hotel in Hong Kong. This is the fifth year that Goldman Sachs is hosting this conference featuring leading private and public companies in Asia Pacific. Origami Labs had the pleasure to not only take part in the exclusive exhibition but their CEO, Kevin Wong, was invited to speak at this conference as well.
In attendance were investors, other founders, and industry veterans that are interested in the tech-space. Totalling hundreds of participants, the common vision among the speakers and the audience was the vision of a better future through technology.
In particular, Kevin talked about the screen-free future, what it means to have a non-intrusive device and the power of this for businesses where personalized guest experience and continuous communication matters the most.
Taking inspiration from ORII and its past trial period, Origami Labs had learned that in addition to screen-free, hospitality staffs also need their devices to be hands-free. This fueled new thinking and reconsideration on the Origami Labs’ devices. As a result, the company made the deliberate decision to shift from a ring form to an open-ear piece and controller device, both designed to fulfill the need of discreetness without sacrificing the complex computation that smartphones provide.
